On Sunday, September 25 at 7pm, the Nashville Jazz Workshop and the Tennessee State University Music Department present an installment in the popular Jazz on the Move series. The program is a lecture/performance on the Music of The Benny Golson / Art Farmer Jazztet, presented by trombonist Roland Barber with an all-star group of supporting musicians. FREE ADMISSION
The Jazztet was one of the most influential recording and touring jazz groups of the 1960's. Co-founded by saxophonist / composer Benny Golson and trumpeter Art Farmer, the band launched the careers of several prominent instrumentalists and produced many brilliant compositions, several of which went on to become jazz standards. The group recorded with several iterations in the 60's, and was later re-formed in the 80's for another run of international touring and six new recordings.
